【Jun-jie Hu】Taruku Indigenous group - Weaving

Jun-jie Hu, a Taruku Indigenous young man, also known as Junbo Lihan in his tribal language, has been indulging himself in weaving for 11 years.  Collaborating with his mother, Jun-jie established the Na-Turan Weaving Studio, moving away from the traditional format where Taiwanese aborigines simply produce products strictly following patterns given to them.  His innovative move has truly advanced tribal craftsmanship to another level and a new milestone. Inspired by the surroundings he has been brought up to appreciate, Jun-jie has wild boars and owls as the main theme, which help add another historical and cultural layer to the pieces.  Due to Taruku Indigenous tradition of men assuming the role of hunters and women the weavers, in order to stick to that tradition, Junbo Lihan personally does not walk through the weaving process on a typical weaving machine but does his work on a modern apparatus.  Every single piece of his work is a perfect reflection of his devotion to his Indigenous cultural history and crafts, and his effort in passing down tales of his clan from one generation to the next.
